Sheet C-05Comparison · the free stack
Ads Manager is free. CapCut and Canva cost about the price of two coffees. Every part of what MeMachine does can be assembled by hand. The question is not whether you could. It is whether you will.
Tool pricing checked August 2026 · third-party figures where noted
This is the comparison we lose on price by the widest margin, and it is also the one we are most comfortable making.
Software total: roughly nothing to about thirty-five dollars a month. That is the honest number, and it is a lot less than $149.
nobody stalls because canva was too expensive.
The tools are not the missing piece. Here is what you are actually assembling when you do this yourself:
| Line item | Do it yourself | MeMachine |
|---|---|---|
| Software cost | $0–$35/mo, depending on which editors you pay for | $149/mo, one plan |
| Your time | Unbounded, and mostly spent deciding rather than doing | Twenty minutes talking, about an hour filming |
| Knowing what to say | Yours to figure out | Pulled out of you in a recorded conversation |
| Market research | Free via Meta Ad Library, if you do it | Done for your market and niche, aimed at the gap |
| Filming | You, alone, with your phone propped on a paint can | Teleprompter, framing guides, retakes |
| Editing | CapCut — capable, and a skill you have to learn | Automatic rough cut, cutaways, captions |
| Publishing | Ads Manager, free, if you learn it — or Boost Post, which is easier and reportedly costlier per result | Into your own ad account, by the system |
| Bookings | Whatever you wire up | Onto your calendar |
| Ad spend | Direct to Meta — nobody in between | Direct to Meta — never touched, never marked up |
| Fails when | Week three, quietly | You will not go on camera |
Meta Ads Manager pricing confirmed from Meta’s own business site, August 2026. CapCut, Canva and Boost Post figures are third-party reports that vary by region, billing cycle and store — treat them as indicative and confirm before buying.
There are dedicated own-face video tools that do teleprompter, auto-captions and social publishing for far less than we charge — BIGVU, for instance, published paid tiers starting around $12–$19 a month as of August 2026. If your real problem is “I want to film myself talking and post it,” that is a better purchase than MeMachine and you should make it.
What those tools do not do is read the ads running in your market, aim your scripts at the gap, build the campaign, publish it as a paid ad in your own ad account, or route the response to your calendar. They are video tools. MeMachine is an ads system that happens to include filming. Different purchase, and worth knowing which one you are actually making.
Card up front, cancel before day seven and nothing is charged. If it turns out you would rather do it yourself, you will at least have seen six scripts and a read of your market.
